Allow Me to Share: A few quick things
Today is house listing day, and I am (in the words of my bestie/college roomie, Brittany) “pinging.” I’ve been up since 4 a.m. - a bundle of nerves and excitement. Send sedatives, please.
Among all the frantic last-minute cleaning and repairing and the near-obsessive checking of real estate apps to make sure we’re priced well, I have not made time for my usual ruminations/reflections. So I’ll leave you with just a couple of quick things this Friday:
I’m participating in a one-month Instagram challenge hosted by Laura Tremaine of the 10 Things to Tell You podcast. Back in October, I did the #onedayhh challenge, where I documented my day hour-by-hour-ish. The #OneDayMay challenge has a different prompt for each day. It’s been really fun and a great distraction. I’m @kjahewitt on Instagram.
Erin H. Moon is part of the wonderful podcasting team at The Popcast. Her Instagram and newsletter are super smart and funny. She’s been promoting the fabulous idea of “Fake Mother’s Day”, where moms take a day that is NOT actual Mother’s Day to do whatever they want - away from the demands/expectations of the actual holiday. I love this so much.
We’ve got an exciting weekend ahead. My parents are coming to see the kids play soccer, and it also happens to be my mom’s birthday weekend. Yay! Spending a birthday watching little kids’ soccer is true evidence of a grandmother’s love. (And I know my parents love ME because they didn’t back out of their plans when they found out our house was going to be on the market and they’ll be spending the entire weekend keeping the house spotless and maybe killing time in the 90-degree heat while we wait for showings.) All of that plus ACU graduation plus Mother’s Day plus our return to in-person church for the FIRST TIME SINCE MARCH plus me having the nervous energy of 1,000 cups of coffee. What could possibly go wrong? :)
Until next week,
Kayla
